Welcome

In 1983, legendary Manchester pop group, The Stone Roses, were born. Their innovative fusion of dance rhythms and punk rock earned them worldwide fame and adoration throughout the late eighties and early-to-mid nineties.

Every week, I will write about a different song that I believe is important to the Roses’ story and their development as a band. In each post I plan to detail the context of the song, my personal feelings about the song, and how the song affected the band.

Get ready for my first post where I’ll discuss the Roses’ debut single, So Young.

  1. Wow, someone that came to the Roses pretty much at the same time and way that I did. Although mine was through watching the Made of Stone Documentary. I watch pretty much every music related film I can find, so I decided to watch this film about a band that I was only vaguely aware of. I quickly fell asleep and then became wide awake when I heard Mani’s opening bass line to Fools Gold at the end of the film. I then quickly realized that the drummer, whoever he was, was a freaking monster. Most drummers look like they are trying to end a week long bout of constipation, but not this dude. So loose and grooving.
