Overview
Through the Pathways to Employment initiative, the Institute for the Study of Adult Literacy (ISAL) created a number of resources to assist adult education providers and partners in the planning and implementation of Integrated Education and Training (IET) programs. The Developing Basic Skills Curriculum for an IET Guide provides information and detailed steps and resources for both developing of an IET program and for revising existing adult basic education curricular materials to meet the needs of the basic skills component of an IET.
ISAL staff partnered with the Pennsylvania College of Technology (PCT) to develop adult basic education curricular materials customized and contextualized for an IET program. The Basic Skills Curricular Lesson Plans include Fit 4 Healthcare/Foundational Skills in Healthcare, Fit 4 Advanced Manufacturing/Foundational Skills in Manufacturing, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Foundations, and Mechanical Components/Mechanical Maintenance Foundations were developed and aligned to existing occupational skills program at PCT.
