As I mentioned in my first blog post, the focus I have is for my blog is to have a new cafeteria built on the Penn State Abington campus to accommodate the growing amount of students who attend there. The success of this blog is to get progress on building a new area for students to eat on campus built. And this photo from my previous post does show a convincing argument of how students are affected by how the closure of Woodland Cafe has on students.
However, there is another problem that does make the lack of another cafeteria on campus to accommodate the student body and faculty quite the issue. You see, the rising enrollment of students is a trend any college/university follows. A small campus such as Abington can be crowded if not enough facilities are available to help students enjoy student life there. While students can spend two years here before transferring to University Park, other students might want to finish their education here. But Penn State needed to limit how much this campus has to offer in order to follow the zoning laws of Abington Township.
This photo really shows the problem my issue does have. So, to put it simply, Penn State Abington needs to not only accommodate the needs of its students but also stay within the zoning laws of Abington Township. And building a new cafeteria with this restriction in place can be hard to deal with. Overall, the success of my project will be based on how much progress is made in building a new cafeteria on campus while making sure that it can stay within zoning laws of Abington Township.
This issue I’m writing about in my blog differs greatly from my other peers. While they are writing about issues with their community, I’m discussing an issue about the school I go to. But I did think about what my professor mentioned about how the need for a new cafeteria on campus could be affected by zoning laws for Abington Township as a whole. So after some thought, I decided that adding information about how the zoning laws do affect this campus could help strengthen the argument my blog will focus on. To sum things up, the new cafeteria for students and faculty to use on campus must be able to accommodate the needs students have and to follow the enforced zoning guidelines put into place.
I will do my best to achieve my goal so that everyone involved can feel a sense of satisfaction in the end.
