This past week on Wednesday July, 31th I attended my first leap group activity. A big group from my class all went laser tagging downtown. It was a new experience for my first leap get together and laser tagging at Penn State.
I have recently become close with a couple of people in my class, so we thought it would be fun to finally attend an activity together. We then texted our mentor and she set it up so we could all go. Not only did my friends in the class go, but a bunch of other classmates went as well.
Laser tag is only steps away from our dorms so in a smaller group we walked there together. Once we got there, I was surprised with how it looked. I wasn’t surprised in a bad way, the place was just different from laser tagging around my home. At home the laser tagging was in big entertainment complex, but here it’s just in a small home like room. No matter what it looked like I was still excited.
We were able to play two games. The first game I played I was all about strategy and trying to be on the top of the leaderboard. I found all the hideout spots that were the best for hitting people without them seeing me. I was pretty successful with coming in second place, but I also was a little mad about not being in first. By the second game my strategy completely changed. I no longer felt the need to be on top, so I just had fun with it. There was a bar that was in the middle of the room that jumped on top of and danced to the music while still trying to actually place the game. With my new strategy came a new ranking and I went from second place down to seventh. Both games were fun in their own ways.
After leaving laser tag we found an amazing place to get food. I had waffle fries with cheese poured all over the top. I can honestly say those fries were the best food I have ever had in my life. The group of friends that I went with all sat on the curb eating the best food and also the most greasy food you’ll ever have.
The whole laser tagging experience was one of the best nights I had here at summer session. It’s a bummer it took up to the fifth week for all of my class to actually get together for an activity. I’m sure during the fall my friends and I will be going back to play again.
