Dear Lecturers,
Save the date: Wednesday, November 30, from 4:30-5:30pm in the Grucci Room
Thank you to everyone who attended the last open meeting with the department’s Lecturer Advisory Committee (LAC) in October. Gregg Rogers joined us to explain the administration’s stance on the link between grade distribution, SRTEs, and job security/promotion. Lecturers attending the meeting posed valid questions and concerns about the issue.
At our next meeting, we hope to have more time for open discussion with our peers.
In addition, Leslie Mateer will briefly present on the changes coming for the Program in Writing and Rhetoric website. (The old site: http://pwr.la.psu.edu/) Leslie will ask for your recommendations for instructor resource content and layout. Please bring your ideas!
Agenda for the meeting:
- Leslie: brief presentation on the PWR website and time to submit suggestions
- Discussion of the problems with summer teaching pay and what we can do about it
- Continued discussion of formal documentation of lecturer concerns
- Open the floor for discussion
We want to continue the conversation with input from as many of you as possible. Please join your LAC reps on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at 4:30 p.m. in the Grucci Room in Burrowes. We hope to see as many of you as are available, both newer lecturers and those with more experience in our department.
To clarify any misconceptions, this meeting is not the same as the Town Hall gatherings Cheryl Glenn has scheduled in the past. It is meant to be a safe place where we can discuss our concerns as lecturers and brainstorm ways to make our experiences within the department more positive.
See you on November 30!
