Join SES on Monday, August 21st from 6:00-7:00pm in room 114 EES Building to learn more about Engineering Science. SES members will be present to introduce ourselves, our particular interests, as well as SES activities this upcoming year. Come out and learn more about SES and Engineering Science!
We will be holding elections for next year’s officers next Wednesday, 4/19, at 7:00 PM in 267 Willard
. If you’re interested in running to be an officer, please fill out this Google form by Monday, 4/17, at midnight
. In addition to your basic info and the position you would like to run for, you will have to answer these questions on the form:
- What is one change you would like to bring to SES next year?
- What, in your view, is the biggest challenge facing this organization?
- What do you think will be your most difficult personal challenge of being an officer next year?
The length of the answers does not matter. All I ask is that you give thoughtful and meaningful responses!
Also, there will be pizza! (No RSVP, we’ll order at the beginning of the meeting).
The meeting will be relatively short, and afterward, we will have the room available to do homework. For those of you in AERSP 308H, we can use this time to collaborate on the project, as suggested by Dr. Kinzel.
Enjoy the beautiful weather!

Have an internship lined up for the summer? How about a research experience? You want to make the most of your summer employment and leave a powerful impression on your employer and coworkers. If you want to turn your experience into a full time job, or an awesome letter of recommendation for your next step, you need to really *wow* the people you work for.
An internship (or summer REU) is like a 12 month interview, and SES wants you to be prepared! This Thursday, April 6th, at 7pm in room 270 Willard, SES is hosting an Internship/REU Prep Workshop. Rebecca will teach you some do’s and don’ts of the workplace, how to identify and develop mentors, how to really impress your coworkers and boss, and also how to have fun over the summer with a job.
She did a research project between her freshman and sophomore years, and an internship between her sophomore and junior years, and as a junior she is already in the process of being hired full-time after graduation next year. That is 100% thanks to the work she did over the summer. Rebecca wants you all to have the most success you can, too. So, come to SES’s Internship/REU Prep Workshop this Thursday to hear her valuable advice!
Feel free to bring friends! This is directed towards engineering students, but just about anyone could benefit from this workshop.
Hope to see you Thursday!
