Blog Portfolio II

Here is a collection of my best blog posts from the Spring semester of 2013.

Civic Issues

Ocean Power– This is perhaps my best CI blog in that it puts forth an idea that I think is very promising and most people haven’t heard about.

Updating the Electric Grid– This post is interesting in that of all of the CI blogs posted thus far, it is the only one that eventually must happen, even if it is after the current electric grid has failed.

Electric Cars– This is my favorite CI post because electric cars are something I am quite interested in.

Diesel Cars– Keeping in line with my previous post, I decided that I should also address another alternative to conventional engines, diesel power.

Passion

The First Fish– I chose this post because it was the first interesting post of my virtual aquarium and it introduces several important factors such as temperature and introduction order.

Why Freshwater?– I included this post since why I picked freshwater was a question many people asked. Additionally, I think I addressed several important factors when picking an aquarium, such as energy use and fish sourcing.

Dither Fish and a Pleco– This piece is incorporated into my portfolio because it had a slightly different format than my other fish posts. Instead of just saying what I was going to have, I introduced two classifications of fish, explained why they are important, and then picked what I would include in my tank.

The Centerpiece– Although shorter than most of my posts, this one almost had to be included since it was the culmination of my virtual aquarium design. I put a lot of time into researching each possibility and although I only have pictures for most of the fish, behind each picture was quite a bit of information.

Bluefin Tuna– These last two posts differ from my original idea, but they stick with the idea of oceans and aquatic life. This post is special because it combines two of my passions, environmental conservation and fish.

Whaling– Similar to the above post, I chose this post because I think I did a pretty good job giving a quick overview of modern day whaling and identifying the problems with it.

Overall, I think while perhaps less interesting and less applicable to everyday life, I enjoyed blogging this semester much more than last semester. I hope it shows in my work.

Thank you!
