The title says it all. The Dallas Cowboys, one of the most promising teams coming into this season, look like they are playing football for the first time in their lives. As someone who loves the team, this hurts to watch. Even for just a football fan, this hurts to watch. Penalties at key moments. Lack of motivation. Missed tackles. Bad throws. Dropped catches. Turnovers. Blocked punts. Missed field goals. Bad coaching. Overall: just bad football.

I get that the NFL is tough. I get that these are the most elite players the Cowboys are facing. But the Cowboys have too good of a roster to be playing this. If I were a Giants fan or a Redskins fan, then okay, I would expect it. But this is a team with one of the best quarterbacks in the league (I know, somewhat controversial but QBR would happen to agree with me here). Easily, they have one of the best running backs in the league with Ezekiel Elliott. Their wide receiver corp with Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and Randall Cobb ranks near the top. Their offensive line is commonly considered one of the top. So on offense, they should be pretty good. All the pieces are there, and yet, it’s just not working out. Holding penalties, dropped balls, missed throws. Sometimes bad play calling. The talents there, and there’s just not enough being done with it.
What about the defense? Well up front there are studs like Robert Quinn, Demarcus Lawrence, and Michael Bennett. Surely an above average line. The linebacker talent is there in Sean Lee and Jaylon Smith. Possibly the Vander Esch injury is affecting them but it shouldn’t that much. And defensive back is where I think our problems come in. The secondary consistently doesn’t do their job. Finally against the Bears they got an interception, but pass interference calls and blown coverage still were there demise.

Possibly the hardest part about watching this game was that it seemed that the effort wasn’t there. When Dak Prescott drops back and throws it at Elliott’s feet for the second weak straight, I think it’s safe to say that his mind isn’t in the right place. I love Dak, and he’s my favorite player in the NFL, but for my sake, I need him to get his head on straight and start making some of these throws. Luckily, towards the end of the game he started making some really nice throws. But we need more of that Dak for the whole game if we want to win. I know he’s got it, and when we get to the playoffs and shows who the real Dak Prescott is, it’ll be a great time for me.
I haven’t lost hope in this team yet. I am super upset and frustrated with how they are playing however. Blame Jason Garrett, blame Dak, blame Jerry Jones, it doesn’t matter who you blame because the Dallas Cowboys, the WHOLE organization is to blame here.
I still have hope. We need to come out strong against the Rams, then go and beat Philadelphia. It will be tough, but it’s possible. And if, and this is a big if, we end up making some miracle run, Jerry Jones will be write. This will be something they write about for 30 years. And I’ll be talking about it for the next 70. Let’s go Cowboys.

Also, this is my last blog here, so if there’s one thing I want to leave you all with, it’s this. It’s easy to do what every other fan does and hate the Cowboys. While they are America’s team, they are also America’s most hated team. As a fan, be different. Don’t hate on the Cowboys or their players. I get if you’re an Eagles fan and you want them to lose, but don’t hate on them. You’re just like everyone else at that point. Have a good rest of the season!
