Here Adam first leads up the Van,
True patron of unstained Life,
Till he became a married man,
Lift up the leaf and see his wife.
Panel 2, Upper Flap (Exterior):
A Lion roaring from his Den,
In curls displays his frecled Breast,
He rampant breaths forth disdain
Turn up and see as strange a beast
Panel 3, Upper Flap (Exterior):
But see what providence hath done
The child is safe the Eagle’s flown,
Its hear now after gold doth run
Turn down & see what here is shown
Panel 4, Upper Flap (Exterior):
Behold he liveth at hearts Ease,
Full trusting in his Baggs,
now one is come he cannot appease
Turn down & see death in his leggs

Here Eve in shape you may behold,
One Body serveth twain,
Once more you may the Leaf unfold,
And see as strange again
Panel 2, Upper Flap (Interior):
A Griffin’s shape you may behold
Half Bird half Beast to be
As strange a sight if you delight
Turn down the Leaf and see.
Panel 3, Upper Flap (Interior):
Press’d with gold in every part,
A sudden joy in wealth doth warm,
His heavy purse makes light his [heart image],
And now he boasts what pow’r can harm.
Panel 4, Upper Flap (Interior):
On the false world I fixt my joy,
But now I find it all in Vain,
This world’s a Bubble its a Toy,
Not worth a wish Amen Amen.

Eyes look not on the mearmaid’s face,
Oh, Ears forbear her Song,
Her Face hath an alluring grace,
More charming is her Tongue
Panel 2, Lower Flap (Interior):
The Eagle which is here display’d
Doth grasp a child a lovely pray,
Why is their help so long delay’d,
To Rescue this sweet child away.
Panel 3, Lower Flap (Interior):
A heart turn’d upside down and wholly fixt
Upon the world’s unconstant wealth,
Sick of a gready melancholy,
Turn up & see the way to wealth
Panel 4, Lower Flap (Interior):
Sickness is come & Death is nigh,
Help gold & silver else I die
It will not do it is but dross,
Turn up & see a further loss.
