The Center for Civil & Human Rights is a museum that celebrates the civil rights movement in the United States as well as civil and human rights advancements globally. The surrounding landscape takes inspiration from urban spaces that were the site of important civil and human rights events in history, such as the National Mall in Washington, Tiananmen Square in Beijing and Tahrir Square in Cairo. The exterior form symbolizes unity and harmony, expressed by the two curving walls reaching towards each other that represent interlocking arms.
