The Spirit of Charity Innovation District was completed as a collaborative Strategic Planning Process by the Greater New Orleans Foundation, to outline a comprehensive strategy to stimulate job growth, equitable and inclusive development surrounding the former Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA. Research and planning was done in collaboration with local experts and stakeholders in New Orleans, with a goal of encouraging economic development as well as equity, land use, affordable housing, mobility, and workforce development. DesignJones LLC led community engagement efforts including surveying residents, workforce, students, and commuters, and encouraging public collaboration and education about the project. DesignJones LLC hosted several citywide community workshops, and opened a Community Office to inform and engage residents and visitors about the District.
