Kevin Coochwytewa

Graphic Designer

Seattle, Washington

Feature Projects:  Bombay Bar & Grill, Project Antelope, Santa Monica Bay National Estuary Program

Kevin Coochwytewa credits his Indigenous Isleta Pueblo and Hopi heritage with igniting the spark of a lifelong appreciation for art and design. Being born into traditional cultures with solid and important connections to the land and community has shaped his thought processes and enriched client relationships. As an infant, his paternal grandmother gave him the Hopi name, Talwif’tiyo, which translates to “Lightning Boy.” Kevin strongly believes his name is a natural representation of his drive and the powerful work he continually strives to create.

Growing up, Kevin was surrounded by all different kinds of cultural art forms, which he believes play an important role in his work today. He values symmetry, harmony, and balance, which can be hard to obtain, and tries to incorporate those traits into his designs. When asked about his design process and how he tackles new projects he said, “Good things take time and care.” Kevin has held multiple senior creative positions throughout his career but is now currently based out of Seattle where he has been freelancing for various clients locally and nationally. He also mentioned how he loves working with indigenous clients because he believes there is a special connection, and by working together the process and outcome are stronger.
