Santa Monica Bay National Estuary Program (SMBNEP) is a private-public partnership dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and enhancement of coastal Los Angeles. They reached out to Kevin and asked him to create a new logo for their company. Kevin was excited to take on this project because he had the experience of growing up and living in California. SMBNEP had envisioned a logo that could highlight all kinds of different aspects of Santa Monica Bay such as the land, water, animals, plants, sea kelp, etc. Kevin knew that this was going to be difficult to achieve because the client wanted so many things to fit into such a small space. He also wanted to achieve his own goals and ideas for the brand by honing in on the so-cal vibe, creating something that was retro and symmetrical, while also finding a balance between all the elements.
