Spark Plug was Nia Gordon’s MFA Thesis at the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2016. Her goal was to create a mobile application interface that would increase participation in activism through social media. She believed that social media has been successful in spreading awareness but lacks in getting people involved. Spark Plug would help users document injustices, and arrange meetings, privately or openly, in hopes of creating a positive involvement in social media activism. It will also educate users on the origins of hashtags and movements, and provide information about current events, social issues, and how users can contribute.
