Communication and the Truth

What is the truth? The idea of the truth can be describes as being in accordance with reality. So if one has the definition, then why can one not tell what the truth of a situation is? It is because the idea of the truth is different for every single person. For what I might have recognized as the truth another person might disagree with because many people intertwine their opinions with facts. I also think that the idea of being polite intertwines within truthfulness because without being truthful, how can one be truly honest and polite to someone. By being dishonest, it will take away from the politeness that two people might have within an interaction. Even though people might have different truths, as long as they are going truthful to each other, then they can both truly flourish and engage with true politeness.

To further my claim, I do agree with the main points that Sheryl talks about. She pronounces that communication is one of the most important things not only between people, but also in business practices. She also talks about sharing one’s own truth and how this allows people then to communicate authentically. The genuineness of someone being modest and truthful to their values opens up a whole different conversation. Most people are going to be very accepting to someone who is open about their values and their truths. Doing so makes more interpersonal connections between people and it can also strengthen connections between these people as well. I believe that trying to strengthen these relationships is the key idea that she is trying to get across in her speech. Politeness is very important in communication as well because if one uses the truth with their communication, they will be very inclined to also be polite. Politeness goes hand in hand with all of the ideas Sheryl discussed, as being polite and truthful leads to better communication and improves trust between people.
