Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)

RCR training must completed within the first two years of postdoctoral training period.  If appointment extends for more than four years, training must be repeated.

Purpose

  • Encourage active participation of trainees
  • Involve faculty in the training, especially postdoctoral mentors
  • Inclusive approach for international postdoctoral scholars
  • Curriculum includes new NIH requirements for formal instruction in rigorous experimental design and transparency to enhance reproductibility

 

Online CITI training in RCR – must be completed within 3 weeks of first day of employment at the COM. Multiple language formats are available. (Certificates of completion will be sent to Postdoc office).

  1. RCR Basic course– required for postdocs who have had no prior RCR training: Authorship; collaborative research; conflicts of interest; data management; financial responsibility; mentoring; peer review; plagiarism; human subjects research; research misconduct; animal research
  2. RCR Refresher course– for postdocs who have taken RCR training previously at this or another U.S. institution: Authorship; collaborative research; conflicts of interest; data management; mentoring; peer review; human subjects; animal research; research misconduct
