This piece demonstrates the unique characteristics of the font Adobe Garamond Pro. Adobe Garamond Pro is a part of Adobe’s Originals which started in 1989. This text is an OpenType text, meaning that there are more options in each type set. It can incorporate all given weights and motifs in one font. This font was made by Robert Slimbach in 1989.This font mixes both 16th century fonts of Claude Garamond and Robert Granjon. Claude Garamond is known for making some of the most elegant and functional roman fonts. On the other hand, Granjon was making very ornate, beautiful italics that complimented roman font very well. Granjon’s italics had an energetic look to them, putting emphasis on the pages. The process of creating this font took about a year. Slimbach traveled to Belgium to study Garamond’s and Granjon’s pieces in a museum. Most of the roman design was modified or redrawn, whereas all of the italic design was redrawn.
