Kylie Jenner is expanding her business with a new swimwear line, “Kylie Swim”. This article from US Today shares customer’s negative reviews about the swimwear line.
Kylie Jenner released her swim line Sept. 17, selling suits ranging from $40 to $85. Since the release, customers have not been happy with their purchases and left negative reviews on social media platforms such as Tik Tok and Twitter. Many videos portrayed the brands low quality and see-through material.
One Tik Tok user, @tinytello, posted a video saying, “For me it comes down to lack of integrity as a business owner.” “When you put something out you want people who are spending their hard-earned money on it to be a good high-quality product, and the fact that they gave this the thumbs up is really concerning to me.”
From a PR perspective, this is bad press for Kylie and her swimwear line. Customers are bashing herself and her new line by taking it to social media. Influence like this travels fast through media and as more users post negative comments, more and more users will see this and build a negative reputation toward Kylie and the swim brand.
Putting myself in the shoes of Kylie’s publicist and Kylie Swim’s PR team, it would be necessary to address the negative reviews. First, it is always important to address comments especially if customers are unsatisfied. As a member of Kylie Swim’s PR team, I would first work with Kylie to hear her thoughts about the reviews and encourage her recognize the problem needs to be addressed to her publics. Then I would try to reach the audience by posting on the Kylie Swim Twitter accounts. The tweet would address some customer’s satisfactions with their purchases and to contact the customer service for a refund. I do not think the situation needs to be further addressed from the Kylie Swim team.
As Kylie’s publicist, I would recommend she addresses the problem on social media. The best way would tweet to her fans. Instead of apologizing, I would recommend Kylie tells her audience bigger and better things are coming and that she can’t wait to show everyone. Even though this does not directly introduce the problem, it shows she’s aware of the situation and is working with the team to improve her line.
