Interested in helping fund this program and associated healthcare-agriculture partnership research?
ProduceRx is not free for patients. Our partner farms offer a discount on weekly produce boxes and the program further subsidizes each box by $22, allowing for a more affordable $15 weekly copay for patients. This copay can be paid for with a patient’s EBT/SNAP benefits, as is often the case. The program relies on its generous partner farms, grant funding, and private donations to provide affordable, locally grown, quality nutrition to patients identified specifically by their healthcare providers. The ProduceRx healthcare-agriculture partnership model benefits patient and community health, local agriculture, and the local tax base by connecting two essential sectors in Pennsylvania with common goals.
Penn State ProduceRx is a part of the Penn State Hershey Medical Center and thus exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, therefore any gift is tax-deductible to the full extent provided by law.
