Abstract:

The research examines how incidents of violent crimes are spatially distributed in Our West Bayfront areas. Using ArcGIS software and five years (2016-2020) of crime data from Erie Police Department, the research analyzes and identifies the locations of crime hotspots in Our West Bayfront (OWB) neighborhood in the City of Erie. The research reveals several trends of crime in the neighborhood in the span of five years (2016-2020). One of the trends is how crime goes down in neighborhoods with high concentration of security camera. The research findings provide an understanding on how crime affects the characteristics and health of OWB neighborhood. The research suggests collaborative actions and relationships that attends to the economic and social situations of the neighborhood who are mostly affected by violent crimes.
