Abstract:
In this study, copper and nickel complexes of 1,5-di(4-phenyl)-3,7-diphenyl-1,5-diaza-3,7-diphosphacyclooctane (P2N2) were synthesized and characterized. The reactivity of nitric oxide, NO, was evaluated. Ni(P2N2)2 reacted with nitric oxide resulted to a purple “nickel nitrosyl complexes.” The purple complexes then decomposed to form a [Ni(P2N2) 2] 2+. Preliminary results indicated that [Cu((P2N2) 2]+ and [Ni(P2N2) 2]2+ are inert towards NO.
