1998 PSGC Graduate Fellow
Awarded the PSGC Graduate Fellowship for two consecutive cycles, Sarah Gallagher is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Western Ontario. “The Space Grant Fellowship was a significant help in making graduate school more affordable, and made it easier to finish my PhD in five years,” Sarah stated. “I am extremely grateful for the four years of support that I received.” Sarah uses space observatories for her active, ongoing research program and has trained 12 undergraduate and four graduate students in astrophysics-related research projects, many of which involved data from space observatories. Her research now focuses on the nature of winds from luminous quasars using observatories covering the infrared to the X-ray, including two of NASA’s Great Observatories, Spitzer and Chandra.
