2007 Sylvia Stein Memorial Space Grant Scholarship Awardee
Jessica Serra began undergraduate research at Penn State University in a materials science and engineering lab as part of the Space Grant WISER program. Beginning research as a freshman gave Jessica “the knowledge to pursue other research projects and explore science and engineering activities.” She said, “It helped build my confidence and taught me valuable skills that I have been using in my education and career.” Jessica was later awarded the Space Grant Sylvia Stein Memorial Space Grant Scholarship in 2007, and is now a materials engineer in the Coating Development Group at Pratt & Whitney.
