Screening on Mar 30: The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson

Film Screening: “The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson”
Where: Thursday, March 30 at 12:15pm, in Frable 122
Presented by Penn State Greater Allegheny Crossing Bridges.

The film focuses on transgender activist and icon Marsha P. Johnson, whose death in 1992 was ruled a suicide, though her friends suspected murder. Johnson was one of the principal figures of the Stonewall Riots in the summer of 1969. At that time, just going out on the street in broad daylight in drag, or as a trans person, was a form of activism, but Marsha did more. Until her mysterious death.

Dr. Michael Vicaro will introduce the film and provide some context for thinking about the history of the trans rights movement.
