Greetings! As we gear up for the quickly approaching cold and flu season, here are a few tips, reminders and helpful links to help keep your student as healthy as possible .
The document at the link below is a Guide to Basic Needs Assistance for Franklin County, PA. It includes listings for such services as food pantries, abuse/assault, clothing assistance, health care, shelter/housing, utility assistance, legal services, and assistance with prescriptions and may prove very beneficial to your student! The link is: http://www.franklincountypa.gov/SiteCollectionDocuments/basic needs.pdf
As always, “care packages” from home for a healthy holiday are a GREAT idea! Even the little things, a first-aid kit, basic supplies such as Ibuprofen/Tylenol/Aspirin, bandages, cold medicine, and antiseptic come in handy. In the event that the student does become ill and needs to visit Health Services, PLEASE KEEP IN MIND…IF YOUR STUDENT IS UNDER 18 AND HAS NOT GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL AS AN EARLY TO COLLEGE STUDENT, PERMISSION FROM A PARENT/GUARDIAN IS REQUIRED FOR TREATMENT. Requests for the form may be emailed to daw51@psu.edu. ALSO PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING POLICY REGARDING CLASS EXCUSES: http://studentaffairs.psu.edu/health/welcome/illnessVerification/
We will be offering several other health/prevention – related programs over the next several months to include:
* One of our three blood drives on Oct. 15th
* F.R.E.A.K. WEEK – Finding Responsible and Entertaining Alternatives on Kampus
* Campus Spa/Relaxation Program
Be sure to check out the activities calendar for all the exciting, fun and informative events coming up!!
As always, we are committed to promoting the physical and mental well-being of all Penn State Mont Alto students through health education, preventative health strategies and, most of all, quality health care.
Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions or concerns.
