Who: Anyone (students, faculty, staff, friends, family…) who is interested is welcome!
What: A Waxing Crescent Moon Star Party
When: Fri., Oct. 7th, 6:30 – 11:00 p.m. (the weather might not cooperate…)
Also: Sat., Oct. 8th, 6:30 – 11:00 p.m. (the weather might cooperate…)
(Arrive when you want and stay as late as you want- until 11 pm)
Where: Antietam National Battlefield Visitor Center near Sharpsburg, MD
(~50 min drive SSW of Mont Alto campus)
Why: To enjoy the wonders of the night sky! It’s completely FREE!
Come for telescope viewing (through as many as 15-20 different telescopes!), laser guided tours
of the night sky, and astronomy handouts by the TriState Astronomers
http://www.tristateastronomers.org/). In the event of cloudy skies, the Star Party will be
cancelled. The forecast currently looks iffy for both nights, but it’s hard to tell this far in advance.
For more information, feel free to drop me an e-mail. I could possibly help organize some car pooling. Stay tuned for two more talks (and possible star parties) on campus this semester: Thursday, Oct. 27th and Thursday, Nov. 10th.
Cheers,
Dr. Kim Herrmann =)
