WHAT IS SCIENCE OLYMPIAD?
Science Olympiad is an international nonprofit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science, and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education. Teams of 15 students are challenged by 23 STEM-related events that span biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, engineering, and inquiry. Students usually work in pairs building devices for testing at tournaments, studying for core knowledge challenges, and preparing for rigorous hands-on lab experiments. All this work prepares them for working as a team in a future STEM career.
WHAT IS SOAPS?
Science Olympiad at Penn State is a growing organization of former Science Olympiad competitors and current Penn State students who seek to establish a high-quality, competitive invitational in central Pennsylvania.
Founded in 2020, we have held an annual tournament at Penn State at the beginning of the calendar year. We provide high-quality tests and reach top teams from across the United States. We seek to expand our reach and capacity as we grow and improve SOAPs.
