Dr. James O. Ballard, “Art of Medicine”
The impact of art understanding on the practice of medicine is the subject of this presentation by Dr. James Ballard, Professor of Humanities and Medicine at Penn State Hershey School of Medicine. He will explore that exquisite relationship that can instruct medical students and inform doctors so that they can sharpen their observational skills and heighten their empathetic awareness. His groundbreaking studies, which include analysis of works such as Wyeth’s Christina’s World, will inform a discussion of this new conceptual approach to patient relationships.

Nittany Lion Inn Ballroom
Approximately 250 of us had a delightful time meeting new members and catching up with old friends, signing up for clubs and trips, watching slides of last year’s activities, and hearing from our 2019-20 UWC scholarship recipients.
Volunteer Ambassadors helped new members meet people and find the activities that interest them. Suggestions for next year’s Kick-off are always welcome.
