Eric is a Jr. High and High School Math teacher at Bald Eagle High School. He is a 2014 graduate of Penn State’s College of Education where he studied Secondary Mathematics Education. Following graduation, Eric worked for several months as a substitute teacher in the State College Area School District before acquiring his current position at Bald Eagle Area High School. He is now in his third year as a geometry and algebra teacher.
“While writing and communication skills may seem to be unnecessary in my profession,” he says, “they’re actually extremely important.” Eric notes that he uses writing and communication skills on a daily basis when contacting parents, formulating word problems for students, completing professional developmental responsibilities, and explaining higher-level concepts to students. “Because my students have so many different backgrounds and learning styles,” he explains, “it’s extremely beneficial for me to be able to draw from a wide vocabulary when communicating with them.” Furthermore, he states, “because I value the literary arts so much, I also put in the time and effort to obtain certification for teaching English, which improves my resume and makes me a more well-rounded teacher.”
