My name is Puja, and I am currently a senior at the Pennsylvania State University studying Marketing. I aspire to work in the media and analytics field.
Outside of class, I am a project manager for the American Marketing Association. In this role, I oversee a team of eight other students in creating and implementing a plan to repurpose the old Penn State athletics equipment. I manage deadlines and coordinate transportation for the equipment to go to underfunded schools around the State College area. This opportunity has taught me that organization is key when working with a team.
In the summer I will be working with the Holiday Inn Express in Freeport Maine as a Management and Operations Assistant. The Holiday Inn Express is one branch of a hotel within the IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) organization. In this role, I will be assisting the front office staff with guest check-ins, assisting management by organizing schedules, monitoring and adjusting room rates as needed, and helping maintain stock throughout the week.
Outside of my academics and work, I am interested in traveling and the development of women’s sports. I have traveled to 30 countries and hope to keep exploring new places as I get older. My latest adventure brought me to Melbourne, Australia where I completed my last semester. While I was there it was exciting to see the reaction to the Women’s World Cup with the Australian people. There was a lot of investment and promotion put into this tournament and one day I would like to be a part of this growth.
Throughout all my experiences I have gained valuable skills including time management, adaptability, effective communication, and organization. Both in my roles at work and school I have learned the importance of meeting deadlines and making sure things are organized to get things done promptly. Throughout my travels, I have learned to appreciate all types of cultures and people along with finding ways to better my communication skills in difficult circumstances.
