I have lived in Long Island, NY my whole life.
I went to St. Anthony’s High School– one of the largest Catholic high schools in the country. While I was there, the majority of my free time was spent playing ice hockey and representing our school in national science competitions. When I wasn’t doing that, I was (of course) playing video games with my friends!
As a result of my research in high school, I originally planned to become a doctor. I stumbled upon biomedical engineering when looking for a pre-med major, and quickly realized I enjoyed the ‘engineering’ portion much more. Then, at an air show on a hot summer day with my family and friends, I realized I wanted to work in the aerospace industry.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, my interest in medicine re-emerged as I looked for ways to help out. I volunteered with an open source nonprofit to build medical devices for South America (see Work Experience for more information), and began working as a certified EMT! Also, this was when I fell in love with fitness. On the left is a picture from my hike up Pikes Peak, a 14,000ft summit!
Currently, my main hobbies are working out with friends, skateboarding (though I still fall a ton), and reading. I love to read nonfiction related to finance, psychology, history, and leadership among other topics.
I have a lot of goals for the future, both professional and personal. Personally, I have always wanted to travel, and even to live on another continent for an extended period of time. Also, wherever I go I want to continue my career as a first responder– it has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. Professionally, my dream has always been to start my own engineering firm developing cutting edge technology to positively impact others. Those are my current plans, but I can’t wait to see what unexpected adventures life has in store!
