Palestine and Israel have been battling for control of land in the Middle East since 1917.

The United Kingdom had promised the Jewish people a homeland in the Palestinian region for ages. This centuries-old feud is only gaining in tension today.

The Palestinians fiercely opposed this through diplomacy in the UN; however, they have been denied their requests. Everyone felt that it was okay to take a small portion of land away from the Palestinians to create a homeland for the Jewish people.

Several protests and strikes later, the Palestinians are still ignored. Over the course of a century, the Israelies have more than doubled what their territory was in the early 1900s. Israel now controls more land than Palestine and has become one of the wealthiest nations in the whole world.

In the background of the image, we see the armed Israeli forces looking down on the Palestinian woman. The woman waves the Palestinian flag to signify that she is proud of her heritage Palestinian heritage.

This photograph is meant to display how Israeli occupation is against the will of the Palestinian people and that this “battle” for territory is an unfair fight.

Many Palestinian civilians die every year at the hands of an Israeli soldier. Whenever the soldier is questioned why they shot with an intent to kill the civilian they say that they feel threatened. This photograph seems to combat that argument.

These soldiers are equipped with full military gear. The men are decorated with assault rifles, whereas the Palestinian civilians carry nothing but rocks.

One of the most notable cases of this is when a young boy by the age of 14 was seen throwing rocks at an Israeli tank. The boy was then shot in the neck by an Israeli soldier because he was seen as a threat.

This boils my blood. It is ludicrous that nothing is done about easing tensions in this portion of the world.

Civilians are dying at the hands of an occupying military while the whole world sits back and watches. That is what this photo is trying to argue.

The photograph makes the case that the Israeli occupation of Palestine is awful and that somebody must step in to ease tensions between the two groups.

A compelling argument is constructed from this intense depiction of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land. This image resonates with many people residing in America considering we too come from a nation in which our ancestors came to a land uninvited and occupied it.

We study history to learn from the mistakes of humanity in the past, not to repeat them. This photograph pleads for humanity to not repeat a glaring mistake.
