The 3 things that make Villa Di Roma my favorite restaurant

1. Consistently Delicious Food

I have been going to Villa Di Roma for nearly all of my life. I can say that I still have never had Italian American food that is to its level anywhere in the world. Every single dish that they make is some of the best tasting food you’ll ever have. This phenomenon is largely caused by the sauce. The tomato sauce that has use has been passed down for generations and cannot be replicated. Villa di Roma is in the heart of South Philly which is surrounded by places that have each perfected their craft in italian food over generations. Villa di Roma uses the best ingredient: amazing fresh produce, high-quality meats from the local butcher shops, and numerous other ingredients from small business that create some of the best Italian goods in America. A leading factor in Villa di Roma’s perfect flavor profile is the small business surrounding it that are committed to creating top tier quality food. The meatballs are another food item that cannot be replicated. The tender chewy texture along with the salty and fatty taste create a dish that can only be described as perfection. I am salicvating at the fact I will be able to have this food again over the Thanksgiving break.

2. Classic Italian Dining Environment

When walking into the restaurant, it is very much a family environment. There is not one person worried about volume in the entire restaurant. Although it can get a little loud, The waiters are really nice people and me and my family have gotten to know them pretty well. When there is a birthday celebration the entire restaurant is seen singing the song. Whenever an Eagles game is on, the entire restaurant is in on the game. The environment remind me a lot of the household I grew up in as a kid. I have seen multiple toursist of the city of Philadelphia chewed out by the staff and surrounding table for mixing soda in their wine. Honestly, I believe the scolding was necessary, and it was always done in a joking manner.

3. Memories

The restaurant of Villa di Roma holds a special place in my heart as nearly every time we go to the restaurant it is because we are celebrating a family member’s success or a family member’s birthday. I went to Villa Di Roma when my sister got into medical school. I went to Villa Di Roma I got into Schreyer at Penn State. I went to Villa Di Roma when I was the salutatorian of my class in high school and when my sister was the valedictorian. The restaurant is very much associated with positive memories. When my sister went to Temple, I remember going to eat here after months of not seeing her. The restaurant is a part of my families identity at this point and I can’t wait to countinue this tradition with my family one day.

  1. I love how you talked about the restaurants importance to you in a personal way. I think that the emotions associated with the establishment is what makes our favorite restaurants so special and you really touched on all the unique, personal aspects of Villa Di Roma.

  2. I will definitely have to eat there next time I’m at Philly. I especially appreciate the fact that your described the environment as elevated but still homely. I guess I just really want Italian food right now.

  3. This is genuinely so sweet especially all of the memories you have there. We always stop at the same small family own pizza place when traveling to see my family so I know exactly what you mean about the atmosphere. I’ll seriously have to try this place if I ever go to Philly!
