As I mentioned in my last post, the feminist movement keeps growing every day. A lot of times this growth makes other people want to be sarcastic or just mean about it by joking. An example is this bumper sticker saying, “Without men civilization would last until the oil needs changing”.

This bumper sticker is trying to be funny and sarcastic.  However, it is being insulting to women by implying that women can’t change the car’s oil. The stereotype of men being the only ones who can fix cars and change cars’ oil has been prominent for a long time. Changing the oil in a car is not even hard to do, it’s probably the easiest thing to fix in a car.

I feel that when people look at this bumper sticker, they either think it’s funny or insulting. Either way it makes people think and question whether women are capable of changing the car’s oil. The point of this sticker is to diminish the feminist movement in a passive aggressive way. Of course I am sure that this bumper sticker isn’t taken seriously by anyone, but I think that people who put that in their car aren’t good people.
