Sound like a nightmare or a hypothetical? Unfortunately, it’s not. This is a description of a PETA ad that was run to protest the unfair treatment of intelligent animals.

- discuss the disgusting world of lab testing on animals as well as the zoo/circus industry “many animals are taken from their families and sent to other zoos, or killed when their group size exceeds the space allotted to them. Animals such as lions, tigers, deer or elephants, who normally travel great distances over a short period of time in search of food, spend their days bored and alone or with no more than a handful of others of their species.” PUT IN OWN WORDS (obviously)

I thin this is a great starting place for your speech. I think one of your strongest points is the into when you use people pets. You should really elaborate and take advantage of that as pets are like people to most owners. Also, one idea would be to show the video right after your intro before you really get into the body of your speech so the audience has more background knowledge about what you are talking about.
