Multisensory Interactive Cause and Effect Archway (UMass Lowell)

Visual and multisensory environments have proven to be effective therapeutic tools for children of all ages and abilities (Baillon, van Diepen, Prettyman, 2002). The Cause and Effect Archway is a multisensory device to be used by supervised elementary school children with various motor skill, audio/visual, and cognitive abilities. The device is intended to provide an immersive and engaging atmosphere which can beconfigured for each child on the fly, providing a tailored experience for a wide range of children. The archway is designed to be a cost effective and compact alternative to other commercially available multisensory environments. The main components of the project are an Arduino Due, LED strips, Arcade Buttons and 12v gel cell batteries.The main structure consists of readily available materials such as plywood, Formica
