Cuffit: A new generation of universal cuffIn the past, universal cuffs are leather or fabric bands with pockets that hold only a few tools, like spoons, forks, and combs. The surface gets stained easily and cannot be simply soaked in water to clean, not to mention the pocket design that might hide food debris. The material also makes the design dull and unattractive. Moreover, tailor making a cuff specifically to fit one’s hand is time-consuming.

Therefore, we would like to design a universal cuff that is even more ‘universal’, it should be compatible with a wide range of tools while fitting different palm sizes across the population. Meanwhile, it should be easy to clean and attractive to the majority. After all, we hope wearing the cuff causes no stigma and using the cuff would no longer be an embarrassing experience when dining out with friends.

Based on the bracelet designed by Emmett on Thingiverse, we designed modules that attach different tools to the bracelet. Most of the universal cuff are 3D printed, making the product light and economic. Also, with various colors, the cuff does not look like an assistive device but something more ornamental.

Moreover, the modulable design allows users to personalize the cuff. Users may have the tools previously attached to the modules and only carry tools they need with them. For example, a student may carry a set of stationery to school for the lesson.

You name it, We Cuffit.
