Overview of Exam:
Before delving into any sort of study plan, guide, or tutoring system, the first step for all students should be identifying each part of the test and its respective content. Linked above is an FAQ from the U.S. Navy Command.
Answers on the website will provide detailed explanations describing:
- What the test is composed of
- What each section measures
- The test duration
- Where students can take the exam
- How to schedule the exam
- Materials allowed or prohibited
- Other test-taking advice specific to this exam
All baseline questions that test takers have will be answered in the linked webpage. There is no better resource to learn about the content or scoring information than from the administrators of the exam.
Student Qualifications:
Each person taking this exam has earned or is earning a Bachelor’s Degree, and is either pursuing admission to Naval Officer Candidate School (OCS), is a student at the Coast Guard or U.S. Naval Academy, or is a member of a Navy ROTC Unit at a 4-year college or university. Regardless of any information already given through a recruiter or officers, it is crucial to read the FAQ thoroughly so that each student taking the exam knows everything expected of him or her on test-day.
Note: A key consideration to start thinking about in this stage is when a student should schedule their first exam- there are only 3 lifetime attempts for the exam, so wasting one of those attempts should not be an option for aspiring aviators. The FAQ also provides advice on this subject.
