WELCOME

Hi! My name is Rida Hamid, and I am a freshman attending Penn State University. I am studying pre-medicine as a Schreyer Scholar, hoping to one day become a doctor. In my free-time, I love to read books of various genres, listen to pop music, and watch movies and TV shows (especially cooking competitions). I also like to do creative things, such as drawing, painting, doing DIYs, etc. I am taking Rhetoric and Civic Life as someone who wishes to get better at writing and public speaking through analyzing the techniques that experts use to create impressive writings and speeches and applying them to my own work.

CAS: 137H, Rhetoric and Civic Life, is a course in which we analyze and learn how to apply rhetoric techniques in our everyday lives, through speeches and essays, along with visual and digital communication. This blog is an example of visual and digital communication, serving to show my progression as a student taking RCL and to create connections among me and my peers.

This blog will consist of two different types of posts: RCL and PAS (passion). RCL posts are prompted posts about course content, while PAS posts consist of a theme that interests me. My PAS is Reflecting on Black Mirror— a deep analysis of the deeper meaning of individual episodes from the Netflix series.
