On January 16, 2008, a group — reportedly as a right-wing protest against the center-left government — staged a prank at the Spanish Steps, pouring half a million colored balls down the steps.
The event was captured on several YouTube videos.
This is the same group that last fall poured red dye into the Trevi Fountain.
