The Italian Police are faster than you are

At the police anniversary demonstrations last weekend in Piazza del Popolo, one popular feature was the Highway Patrol’s Lamborghini, capable of 190 mph, used to catch the most egregious speeders on the superhighways, and to impress everyone else.

The car has generated a lot of publicity for the police and for the car. When it was first introduced, in 2004, the New York Times ran a story.
Less awesome was the indefatigable police officer on an official Segway — faster than a strolling pickpocket.

When I asked the officer if I could take his picture this Sunday afternoon — “Posso?” — he nodded and with a barely imperceptible movement rotated the Segway to face me for this portrait.
