Summer 2018: It was a busy, crazy time this summer! Just a few of our highlights:
1. ANTEC 2018 (May 2018) –> Our department took a large group of undergrads to Orlando, FL where they presented posters explaining the undergraduate research. Dr. Rhoades gave a talk about the Flow Induced Crystallization of Nylon 66, which was interesting because the projector was broken! But nonetheless, after presenting to >80 people, many questions and much discussion was carried out, and new research programs are the result!
2. Next Steps in STEM (Aug 2018) –> As an outreach arm of Dr. Rhoades’ NSF CAREER program, we hosted a very energy-intensive 3 day workshop where junior and senior high girls focused on three areas: Recycling plastics found in Lake Erie, formulating lip gloss, and 3D printing custom shoe soles.
3. Times of Polymers (TOP) Conference, Ischia Italy
4. North American Thermal Analysis (NATAS) Conference, Philadelphia, Aug 2018
