Sticking with the hexagon shape, I played with changes to the organization of the letters to take advantage of the positive and negative shapes to make a personal logo.

Now very comfortable with the pen tool and other additional manipulation tools, I replicated the exercise and finished with satisfactory results.
With increasing confidence and efficiency, I was able to replicate the sample image by copying and resizing shapes into different patterns. I am more comfortable using Adobe illustrator as a creation software.
