Hello! My name is Ryan McKenna, I am a first-year student at Penn State University, and this is a little about me. I am from Aston, PA which is about 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia in Delaware County or as others call it Delco. I have one sister and her name is Caitlin, she is going to be a sophomore in High School, and she plays Volleyball. Me and my family don’t celebrate any special cultural traditions, however my family is very close to me and when we are together, we always try to make the best of it. In High School I loved to stay active and be involved with sports but also with other students. Some of my accomplishments was that I was a 4-year swimmer and voted as Team Captain my senior year by my peers, I participated in the Ultimate Frisbee club for 3 years, and I did peer-buddy track and field for a year. Inside of the classroom I was heavily involved with my graduating class, as I was on the class of 2022 committee team, and I would always volunteer setting up for events or whenever the school needed help. My favorite book would have to be The Batboy by Mike Lupica and my favorite movie would have to be Happy Gilmore. My future career aspirations are that I want to become a sportswriter or a journalist for the Philadelphia sports teams. My ideal world would be for everyone to have all the resources they need, but most importantly I would want everyone to be happy with whatever they are doing in life. I never did a community service project; however, I did volunteer a lot in my hometown, and I want to continue that up at State College. I really love to teach swimming lessons and I do that a lot when I work at home, however for most of the time I would do it for free and stick with the kids for free in order to make sure they succeed. My music habits are very apparent in my life since I am always listening to music, however I like to think I have a very wide and good taste in music since usually I am on aux with my friends. My media habits are also very apparent in my life because I like to stay up to date on different sports news and information, on the other hand I use social media to contact my friends at home. During my quarantine life I tried to stay active as much as I could with at-home workouts while also trying to have time with my friends playing Xbox or hanging out in small groups. Quarantine was a very interesting time because it was refreshing but at the same time, I wish I was with others and my friends in school.
