First Woman

Since April 30, 1789, the United States has only had male presidents; however this may be about to change. On Tuesday, Democrats formally nominated Hillary Clinton, the first female presidential candidate of a major political party. In response to being nominated, Hillary Clinton tweeted, “History.” By tweeting this, she is revealing to the public how close she is to achieving her goal at becoming the next President of the United States. Throughout the past 13 months, Hillary has been battling against Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who had a large group of supporters at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

In order to unite the Democratic Party in a more dramatic sense, Vermont was shifted to last in the roll call of states so that Sanders could move that Clinton be nominated by acclamation. By doing this, a deafening uproar occurred in the Wells Fargo Center, where peoples’ reactions were drowned out with the song “Happy.” Although Sanders has a lot of supporters, Clinton has more, and it was obvious that she was going to obtain the nomination from the Democratic Party. Clinton won over 2,800 delegates throughout the campaign, when Sanders only claimed 1,894 delegates. Sanders went on to state that, “It is not just about electing candidates. It is about transforming the country.” The Democratic Party, as a whole, seeks out to defeat Trump, as they most definitely should. Donald Trump is a narcissistic, rude, and disrespectful man that has no idea how to run a country.

The President of the United States should be someone with good morals and ideas that has background and experience that can efficiently run and improve our country. Trump has had a bad reputation for decades and CNN has even broadcasted him three times more than Fox has. CNN was even ranked number one in broadcasting in April due to all of their coverage on Trump. Also, CNN is known to be a more Democratic news station, which further illustrates how the Democrats are trying to emphasize his bad image to people not only in the U.S., but also around the world as well. Clinton has lots of experience in that she has been a first lady, a U.S. senator, and secretary of State as well. Overall, the next three months are going to be extremely intense as to who will become the next President of the United States.

  1. I know it’s crazy! I can’t wait to see who wins the election this year, I really hope Hillary wins. Although Hillary has some unfortunate things on her “resume,” I believe she is way more qualified than Trump to run the oval office, and will do a much better job than him.

  2. It is crazy to think of how close our nation is to making history during this election. There was a monumental election in 2008 when we elected our first African American President into office which was exciting. I wonder if this election will just as historic!
