Checkin’ Out is the 7th and final installment in the Spring Break Collection by Luke Bryan. This year’s EP features 6 tracks from his previous Spring Break EP, “Like We Ain’t Ever,” and 5 brand new originals. New tracks include “My Ol’ Bronco,” “Games,” “You and the Beach,” “Checkin’ Out,” and finally “Spring Breakdown.” This year’s Spring Break EP is a perfect playlist to crank while cruising down the highway towards your summer getaway, sitting on the beach watching the waves crash into the sand, or just sitting in the backyard with some good friends and reminiscing on the old days.
“My Ol’ Bronco” is a song that is not only a personal way for Luke to remember the good times he had while owning his truck but also a great way for you to remember the good times that have been spent with the friends around you.
“Games” is a personal song for anyone to bring back memories of past love. I know it brought back so many great memories of past relationships for me. Some may take it in a negative way but Luke tries to stay positive while showing his more romantic side that he is well known for.
“You and the Beach” is the perfect song for a day of relaxing on the beach with a cold drink in your hand. Trips to the beach and young summer love are the desires of any young person on spring break, and that is exactly what Luke is talking about with this track. It’s perfect for that first dance with your significant other.
“Checkin’ Out” is simply that. This song is Luke putting an end to the “Spring Break” series after 7 EP’s. “Goodbye to the real world,” is the line that put this most into perspective for me because, like a lot of other Luke Bryan fans, I look forward to his Spring Break EP every year. For crazed fans like myself, this is an end to an era.
Finally, “Spring Breakdown” is a slower way for Luke to put the “Spring Break” collection to rest. Realizing that it is over is hard for Luke as he tells in this song. Bringing the series to an end is a sad thing for him because he has so much fun making music like this.
Overall, “Spring Break…Checkin’ Out” is an album that any country fan definitely doesn’t want to miss. Luke did an excellent job of bringing the collection to an end by combining Spring Break 6 and Checkin’ Out to give an 11-track full length EP. For any other Luke Bryan fans out there, I mourn with you as we lay to rest the Spring Break Collection.
