Upcoming Penn State Capital Day

Staff writer: Noelle Bodenheimer

Advocate Penn State Capital Day is back! Next Monday, March 18th marks the return of this in-person advocacy event in Harrisburg since 2022.

What is capital day?

Capital Day is sponsored by Advocate Penn State and Penn State’s Office of Government and Community Relations, and it is Penn State’s largest day for advocacy every year. Students, staff, and supporters from all over Pennsylvania head to the state capitol building to support the university by meeting with elected officials. The meetings center around the discussion of issues relevant to Penn State, such as funding, and advocating for policies that benefit Penn State and its community.

Why should I care?

Your voice matters! Share your Penn State story and help pave the way for current and future generations of Penn Staters. WE ARE passionate for the University and this our chance to put that passion to practice.

Given the news about the University’s budget cuts, it is more important than ever to be an advocate. Past Capital Days have played a pivotal role in securing the University’s annual state appropriation, which supports in-state tuition discounts for Pennsylvania residents, saving the average student around $15,000 each year. Now is the time to show how Penn State benefits Pennsylvania. With ongoing budget issues in Harrisburg and Washington, D.C., funding for higher education is uncertain. Penn State’s research, academic programs, and talented community contribute greatly to the state. Join us in advocating for Penn State and ensuring its accessibility and affordability.
