March  29 Penn State students got the chance to see Kane Brown in concert at the PPG
arena. The country singer performed an array of songs from his Air Tour, and the crowd was
nothing short of excited to see him.

For those who may have missed it, Brown’s show opened with Parmalee following Tyler Hubbard, formerly from the well known “Florida Georgia Line.” Both utilized the performer’s set and did well to not only get the crowd energized for the main event, but also sang some hits that the crowd went wild for; “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line could be heard far out fast Pittsburgh, as it seemed to be highly anticipated. In addition to the spectacular kick off to the show, the weather beforehand and afterwards was warmer, allowing students to dress comfortably and to leave the concert at night without facing any frigid weather.

Brown began the show with the upbeat “Bury Me In Georgia,” which was a song
about his upbringing and his connection to the state. There was a good variety between country and rap sounding songs that he performed at his concert, but this one in particular did well starting the show on more of the country side. In this one in particular, he displayed images of deteriorated rocks, almost like a cave or tomb, which really helped with the imagery and relaying of his song. Along with this, Brown had a multipurpose small stage that had laser lights attached at the bottom by which he would climb on top during some songs and sing at various heights above the actual stage. For instance, during one of the beginning songs, fans were stunned by seeing him appear above the top of his actual stage, singing among red lights on the small, ramp guarded stage.

Towards the middle of the show, Brown walked with security figures to the back of the crowd and sat on a lit satellite stage where he performed “Whiskey Sour” and “Good As You,” both of which tugged at the heart strings of those listening. He really showed how well he was able to uplift the crowd with his use of timed flames blowing upward during a few songs, throwing confetti, and even chanting “Here we go, Steelers!”

Not only did the crowd have a blast with Parmalee and Tyler Hubbard, but they were
surprised to have Hubbard return to sing with Brown, along with Brown’s wife, Katelyn,
singing a separate song together towards the end of the show. Hubbard and Brown proved to be a great pair vocally and with their performing abilities. Later, Kane the Brown’s also shocked the crowd with their duo of “Thank God,” which very well could’ve brought happy tears to anyone.

Nearing the conclusion of the night, Brown sang the peppy, country centered “Like
I Love Country Music.” Making use of the stage, he displayed a video of him in country attire
such as boots, dark shirt, and a cowboy hat. During the duration of the song, his doppelganger on the screen moved with each line of lyrics, causing the majority of his female audience to cheer. Brown bid the crowd goodnight and thanked them for coming out before shortly exiting the stage and concluding the show. Reflecting back on this weekend really put into perspective that, although I didn’t previously listen to his music, it influenced me to take time to check out what he has released, and I even got some of his songs stuck in my head for a couple of days! He has a spectacular vocal and genre range, and I highly recommend listening to his music!
