Pennsylvania weather is all over the place, especially with the part of P.A. we’re in at Fayette! While some are excited for the change in weather, others may feel underprepared. Here are my tips and tricks for both surviving the fall semester and handling the upcoming weather.
Tip #1: Prepare for the Cold
Investing in heavy long sleeves, hoodies, sweatpants, beanies, and winter coats will be your best bet. Staying warm is important, especially when you’re on campus. Personally, I keep an emergency hoodie and blanket in my car at all times; you never know when the temperature will drop!
Tip #2: Take Care of Yourself
Seasonal depression is real. Making time for yourself is so important, especially during the semester. One of my favorite things to do is to relax with some hot chocolate after a long day. If you ever need help, use the campus resources available to you. There’s always someone available to reach out to for assistance with anything, which is one of the many perks of being from a small campus. Our campus counselor, Amanda Collins, can be reached at aln165@psu.edu.
Tip #3: Stay on Top of Class Work!
It’s easy to be overwhelmed with class work, so take time to plan everything out. Using some kind of planner will be a major help. Personally, I use Outlook Calendar and I put everything in there. Exams, homework, events, literally everything! Find what works for you and stick to it.
Tip #4: Have Fun!
While college can be stressful, it’s important to make the most of it, too. I find that hanging out on campus with friends, attending both on and off campus events, or even just hanging out in the library is fun, but find what works for you!
As we get ready to really get into things here on campus, I encourage you to use some of these tips to prepare for yourself. Let us know how your fall semester ends up going!
