CNC Router

Robin Thomas- router box-23xptpe

For this CNC router box project, we had to create a CNC router box that holds our laser cut model, our 3D model, or a mix of both using Fusion 360. Originally I wanted to include the Sphinx into the router box but due to problems with the Sphinx file, I couldn’t add it. So I decided to use just my laser cut project or my shoe project. I copied the same file 3 times and made them all different sizes to make a more artsy look rather than having the same sized shoe in the box. To make the box I used the fillet and shell tool. The fillet tool made the outside rims of the box smooth. The shell tool helped to create the empty box look. After, making the box I had to export into Meshlab which changed the file into an stl file. Using these tools I was able to construct the router box.

3D Print- Great Sphinx

So

For this 3D Print project, I decided to the Great Sphinx of Egypt. The reason I chose to do the Sphinx over the millions of things I could have chosen from is that I love Egyptian Mythology. The different types of Gods and the role each God plays is really creative. The stories are very entertaining and each story teaches a lesson. The Sphinx is a creature that is described to have a woman’s head and a lions body. It is a gatekeeper or a guardian for the so-called treasure inside the pyramid which is built next to. For this project, we had to use Fusion 360. So originally I put a lot of detail into the project as you can see from the first picture but I ran into some problems while finalizing the project which caused me to make a more simple design of the Sphinx. This project did take a long time to make especially since I had eyeball the project because I couldn’t find any blueprints or measurements of the Sphinx. However, the project came out great and looks almost identical to the real Sphinx.

Laser Cut- Shoe Model

Robin Thomas- shoe project (1)-28ftp98

For this project,I used the program Fusion 360. I chose to make an Adidas shoe of mine which I thought would be a good example for a 3D print. Using a new software we were introduced and after figuring out the controls I figured how to make different shapes and make rigid and more prominent lines. Using different tools such as fillet which helped me to create the base of the shoe. After making the shoe itself I had to export into the program Slicer which basically cut the shoe into sections which would make the 3D print more easy to do. With the different techniques I learned from my professor and the tutorials online I was able to construct an identical shoe.

Personal Logo

This logo represents my name, Robin Reji Thomas. The first R stands for Robin which is flipped because I thought it was a cool design and that it fits well with the rest of the logo. The R on the right stands for my middle name Reji. The T in the middle under the crown stands for my last name Thomas. Thomas was also my grandfather’s name and he was known as a respectful man. I decided to add a crown on top of the letter T because it resembles respect which my grandfather was known for. The crown also reminds me that as much as you respect others you always have to respect yourself and who you are. To make this logo I used Adobe Illustrator using the text tool and different layers to make this decal.
